The Design Process
Consultation: Every design begins with a meeting between the client and our Designers, where the parameters of the project are discussed. Questions you should be prepared to answer include:
- What do you envision the end result looking like?
- Are there any features of your property you might want highlighted?
- Is the purpose of the project solely aesthetic or are there functional concerns you would like addressed?
- Are you interested in energy-saving options such as LED fixtures?
- What is your overall budgetary range?
Design: After taking measurements, photographs, and determining the overall goals, we set to work putting together a comprehensive design to match your individual needs and desires. Factors we consider include:
- Overall design aesthetic.
- Photometric calculations of beam radiance and spread.
- Matching the style of the lighting fixtures to the rest of your property.
- Voltage calculations to determine optimal circuit design for bulb life, safety and performance.
- Calculated electrical consumption.
- Control mechanisms, including photovoltaic cells and timers.
Some projects may require a night-time visit from our Lighting Designer to establish ambient conditions prior to finalization.
Contract: After presenting a fully considered design, we work with our clientsto finalize the selection of lighting fixtures, placement, and make other adjustments as needed. Once we have a signed contract and we have received your down payment, we will immediately begin ordering equipment and scheduling out a proposed date for installation.
Installation: All due care will be taken to ensure minimal disruption to your existing landscape, with professional clean up upon completion. Voltage measurements will be taken to ensure all lighting fixtures are working within their established parameters, and all instruments will be given a precision focus to achieve a finished look.
