Koi
If the backyard oasis you invision includes the addition
of koi to your family you have come to the right place. Time slips
away when watching your majestic koi swim in and out of the waterfalls.
Introducing Fish to Their New Home
There are a few things to consider when adding fish
to your new system.
-
Let the system run a few weeks before adding fish. This will
allow your bacteria population to establish prior to stocking.
-
The addition of pond salt can help reduce stress and restore
the fish's slime coat.
-
Add a chlorine, chloramine and ammonia remover before stocking.
-
It is best to "bowl" your fish into the pond, gradually
acclimating them to the ponds water temperature. If using a
net, use a quality fish net that will not damage the fish's
gills.
-
It is typical for your new friends to hide for the first few
days. They are a little stressed out from the move and will
become more social as time passes.
