Healthy Gardens and Lawns

Avant has been promoting low- and chemical-free methods for garden and lawn maintenance since our inception, well before it was trendy. Starting by reducing the amount of herbicide and chemical treatments offered by many lawn maintenance companies, we strive to build back soil health with annual aerations, over-seeding, and organic fertilizers added at appropriate times.

We will use occasional spot treatments in the beginning of service for lawns that are overrun with weeds that are otherwise very difficult to control. We encourage our clients to accept a little diversity in lawns, as it is better for the environment and will encourage beneficial insects to help bring the landscape back in balance. We use smaller mowers to minimize soil compaction and damage to lawns. We also mow only when the grass is growing, and never when it is brown and dormant.
